Do not fall for the notion that because your manufacturer specified a timing, belt for your Isuzu, that someday the company will supply you with a remanufactured engine. In most cases, the timing belts, makes more sense than other Isuzu pickup truck, auto parts, such as a timing chain. While a timing chain may last the life of an engine, there are specific requirements for replacement intervals for your Isuzu timing belt.
Check your owner's manual for other Isuzu auto part replacements. Check your specs on the timing belt replacement mileage limits. Your decision is not a waste, since if your timing belt defaults, your car will not start.
If you have a timing chain rather than a timing belt, a loss of power and noise from the timing cover at the front of your engine is a clear indication that your timing chain may need replacement. Unlike the Isuzu Pickup Truck timing belt, you likely will not destroy your engine by skipping replacements and using a worn out timing chain. You may however get into an accident by making an effort to speed up with a worn timing chain.
